Human iPSC-derived cardiac spheroids serve as a relevant model to evaluate drug effects and cardiotoxicity with automated culture and calcium imaging.

In this application note, we present an automated workflow for generating and analyzing human-induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC)-derived 3D tri-culture cardiac spheroids as a model for cardiotoxicity assessment.

Using the CellXpress.ai™ Automated Cell Culture System and FLIPR® Penta Screening System, the process combines automated culture, functional calcium imaging, and high-content imaging to evaluate compound effects. This streamlined approach enables robust, reproducible analysis of drug-induced cardiac responses in vitro.
