Molecular Devices Launches Dual-Camera ImageXpress® HCS.ai Advanced Duo High-Content Screening System to Help Drug Discovery Teams Reach Decisions Faster
New high-content screening platform connects image acquisition, AI-enabled analysis, and screening analytics to eliminate workflow handoffs and accelerate the path from sample to decision
SAN JOSE, Calif., October 27, 2026 – Molecular Devices, a Danaher company and a leading provider of high-performance life science solutions, today launched the ImageXpress® HCS.ai Advanced Duo High-Content Screening System, a dual-camera high-content screening platform that combines simultaneous image acquisition, AI-enabled image analysis, and screening analytics in a single, seamlessly integrated workflow. Designed for high-content screening teams, the system helps researchers move more efficiently from image capture to scientific insight with faster acquisition, streamlined analysis, and reproducible biological data for modern drug discovery applications.
The growing adoption of advanced cellular models has shifted the bottleneck in high-content screening from simply acquiring images faster to turning those images into actionable insights quickly and consistently. Many high-content screening workflows rely on disconnected tools for image acquisition, analysis, and screening analytics, creating inefficiencies that slow decision-making and increase the burden of managing data across multiple environments.
“High-content screening teams need faster image capture as well as a more efficient way to move from data collection to screening decisions,” said Mary Duseau, President of Molecular Devices. “By combining dual-camera acquisition with integrated image analysis and screening analytics, the ImageXpress HCS.ai Advanced Duo empowers researchers to significantly reduce workflow friction and advance promising compounds with greater efficiency.”
The ImageXpress HCS.ai Advanced Duo helps streamline the process. Its dual-camera design enables two images to be captured simultaneously, delivering acquisition speed improvements of up to 50% depending on assay type and imaging mode, helping reduce image capture time for eligible assays. The platform combines Molecular Devices' MetaXpress® Acquire High-Content Image Acquisition and IN Carta® Image Analysis with IN Screen, powered by Genedata Screener®. Developed by fellow Danaher operating company Genedata, IN Screen provides deep learning and downstream analytics in a unified and automated workflow. Imaging data is automatically captured, analyzed, and translated into screening results that can be reported to downstream applications without human intervention. By connecting advanced image acquisition, AI-enabled analysis, and screening analytics in a continuous workflow, the ImageXpress HCS.ai Advanced Duo eliminates manual handoffs, reduces operational bottlenecks, improves reproducibility, and enables discovery teams to evaluate compounds and prioritize next steps with greater speed and confidence.
"The future of high-content screening requires both advanced instrumentation and intelligent software that can automate the journey from data generation to decision-making," said Othmar Pfannes, Ph.D., President of Genedata. "We are thrilled to partner with Molecular Devices and bring the power of Genedata Screener’s analytics and automation to a new generation of high-content screening workflows. Together, IN Carta and IN Screen help researchers transform complex imaging data into screening insights that can be shared, explored, and acted on across discovery teams."
The ImageXpress HCS.ai Advanced Duo enables new approach methodologies (NAMs) that include phenotypic screening of human-relevant models, label-free predictions with an advanced brightfield modality, and AI-enabled discovery workflows, and is commercially available worldwide. Come by booth 11 at The Society of Biomolecular Imaging and Informatics (SBI2) to learn more, or explore the ImageXpress HCS.ai Advanced Duo here.
