High-Content Screening (HCS) often yields high-quality data that is more biologically relevant than biochemical approaches. A typical assay requires cellular to subcellular resolution during image acquisition and multi-parameter analysis. Enable High-Throughput Imaging with MetaXpress PowerCore™ Software and the IsoCyte™ Scanning Cytometer
Both the IsoCyte™ scanner and the MetaXpress PowerCore™ software bring additional image acquisition flexibility while significantly accelerating image acquisition and analysis speed for HCS. These products complement Molecular Devices' Complete Imaging Solution. Combined with ImageXpress® high-content imagers, MetaXpress® image processing software, MDCStore™ data management solution, and AcuityXpress™ data analysis software, image acquisition through analysis is streamlined to address the HCS workflow.
The MetaXpress PowerCore software is a new analysis platform for the MetaXpress application modules. It provides unparalleled performance to make sure image analysis is never a bottleneck in the race to identify "Hits." Licensing of the MetaXpress PowerCore software is scalable to ensure analysis times are as fast as or faster than image acquisition times. Increasing image analysis speed by 10-to 30-fold virtually eliminates image analysis bottlenecks and enables multiple ImageXpress systems to run in parallel.
The IsoCyte laser scanning cytometer is a fast and simple acquisition system for cellbased, bead-based, microarrays and whole organism assays. With this high-speed image acquisition system, imaging of an entire well at cellular resolution in less than five minutes per plate, regardless of well density, is now possible (from a microscope slide to a 1536- well plate). It is equipped with on-the-fly image processing, facilitating high-throughput imaging. The IsoCyte system can be coupled with MetaXpress software to take advantage of advanced image processing and data analysis.

Our Complete Toxicity Applications Panel Includes
the Next-Generation of Analysis of Micronuclei and
Multi-Nucleated Cells
Micronuclei detection is one of the most highly-regarded methods to screen for indicators of genetic toxicity early in the development of therapeutic candidates. It is also one of the most demanding image analysis applications. The Micronuclei Application Module from Molecular Devices enhances the suite of toxicology application modules, which already includes Cell Cycle analysis, cell health profiling, Live/Dead determination, mitotic index calculation, and more.
The new Micronuclei Application Module for MetaXpress software version 3.0 features:
- The most advanced image analysis to study a wide range of phenotypes. The MetaMorph® and MetaXpress® software design teams have developed a proprietary algorithm for the superior segmentation of mono and multi-nucleated cell and the identification of micronuclei along with an extensive set of options to exclude and include cells based on additional markers (apoptotic, mitotic, necrotic, or other markers).
- On-the-fly cell counting to make sure the right amount of images are acquired to capture the rare events without slowing down screens.

Flexibility and integrity are crucial aspects of data management in an HCS environment. The MDCStore™ database solution is a commercial open platform for HCS data providing users with a validated solution to securely access, manage and deploy an HCS data environment. MetaXpress® software version 3.0 includes the following capabilities for the MDCStore database solution:
- The new MDCStore Tools utility provides an interface for easy data migration, archiving, optimization, tailored-deletion of HCS data and much more.
- All applications are validated on several operating systems, including Microsoft Windows Vista. This enables users to safely benefit from all the features of new operating systems without worrying about compatibility issues.

Additional Measurement Parameters for MetaXpress
Application Modules
Combining MetaXpress® Application Modules with any MetaMorph® journal allows expanded possibilities for analyzing imaging data. Included in the MetaXpress software version 3.0 are added functionalities within the MetaXpress Application Module to reduce the use of journals for simple applications. These changes to existing modules also enables much more assays for analysis with MetaXpress PowerCore™ software.
