- Acquiring images with MetaMorph: simple and advanced acquisition options
- Image processing: thresholding, segmentation and extracting features
- Image analysis and making measurements: intensity, distance, morphometry and more
Requirements: Basic experience with Microsoft Windows 2000 or XP and basic understanding of microscopy will be required. Lunch will be provided. Travel and lodging costs are the responsibility of the attendees.

This course will provide the student with the basic tools to design and write their own custom analysis “Journals” for analyzing plate based image sets collected in MX. Students will be provided with a computer workstation and be expected to work through example journals, with the instructor and teaching assistants, which clearly illustrate the topics being covered. These hands-on examples will be representative of actual customer data and will progress from the basic to the intermediate level illustrating the key required for the student to independently develop more advanced journals in their labs. Example images, journals, presentations and supplementary materials used during the training will provided to the student upon completion.
Condensed Agenda:
Day 1
- Overview of MX capabilities
- Making measurements and logging data
- Writing a custom analysis “module”
Day 2
- Analysis of time-lapse data
- Analysis of stitched or montaged images
- Basic hardware control
