Middle East respiratory syndrome-coronavirus (MERS-CoV) is an emerging coronavirus that was first identified in Saudi Arabia in 2012 [1]. Since its emergence, MERS-CoV has infected more than 2280 individuals with over 800 deaths in 27 countries around the world, with the majority of the infections occurring in Saudi Arabia.
