ImageXpress Micro XL Widefield High Content Screening System

Faster and simpler than you can imagine

The ImageXpress® Micro XL System is a widefield high content microscope capable of providing automated cellular imaging in fluorescent, transmitted light, and phase-contrast modes for fixed- or live-cell assays.

Speed and flexibility are assured with 3X field-of-view, industry-leading stage and autofocus control, the broadest range of research-grade objective lenses (1x-100X) available, multiple filter options, and a gallery of MetaXpress Software solutions to optimize and speed up image analysis. A modular system design enables instrument enhancements for assays ranging from simple label-free imaging to long-term monitoring of cellular responses, compound addition and post-wash recovery. Individual cells can be tracked during multi-day time-lapse experiments.

3X larger field-of-view than industry standard, enabling fewer images per well and shorter imaging time. Field-of-view can be adjusted for optimal focus on the desired sample area

Universal plate holder provides most extensive sample compatibility, from slides to plates (6- to 1536-well), thin to thick plate bottoms, glass to plastic, transwell, low profile, or low volume.

RNA Interference

Observing the gene silencing effects of RNAi on biological morphology, development, and behavior is an invaluable tool for pinpointing mechanisms of action in the research or treatment of cancer, neurological disorders, viral infection, hemophilia, and premature aging. The ImageXpress Micro Widefield Imaging System enables users to interrogate large-scale RNAi libraries, measuring critical events including apoptosis, cell cycle, micronuclei, neurite outgrowth, angiogenesis, intracellular translocation, endocytosis, cell signaling, and multi-wavelength cell scoring. For each assay, biological phenotypes can be automatically identified, segmented, and analyzed using a validated software module to generate accurate results for rapid RNAi screening.

Stem cells

Whether working with embryonic or induced pluripotent stem cells, the ImageXpress Micro System helps you decipher the complex molecular and genetic signaling events that underlie cell division and differentiation. With its widefield focusing capabilities, brightfield imaging option, and environmentally controlled chamber, stem cell growth and differentiation can be measured in cell layers or colonies for extended durations of time. By combining our unique stitching algorithm with precise plate stage movements, accurate measurement of neuronal processes, colony size, or number across multiple fields of view can be recorded.

Live cell and small animal analysis

Monitor living cells for the progression of growth, death, differentiation, viral or bacterial invasion, cell migration due to wound healing, cancer metastasis, chemotaxis, drug toxicity, or translocation. Take advantage of the environmental control chamber, brightfield microscope, and on-board fluid addition capabilities of the ImageXpress Micro System to observe rapid kinetic cellular responses or time-courses that span days using fluorescent or unlabeled cells.

Additional applications

Images acquired with the flexible ImageXpress Micro Widefield Imaging System can be analyzed using any of the numerous software modules that were developed in conjunction with researchers to address their specific applications needs. These modules are tailored to make it easy to perform both common (counting cells) and specialized analyses (counting micronuclei appearance due to addition of genotoxic compounds) required for HCS.
