MetaXpress Software for High Content Imaging Instruments
MetaXpress™ is the imaging software for Molecular Devices line of high content imaging
instruments, which include the ImageXpressMICRO™ and ImageXpressULTRA™ systems.
The software provides users with a range of tools to automate acquisition, processing and analysis
of cellular images, and offers optional application-specific software modules for common assays.
A Complete Solution
Intuitive set-up for acquisition
MetaXpress provides all necessary acquisition controls centralized in one dialog box. The interface guides you
through each acquisition parameter, and no scripting or programming is necessary.
Acquisition settings and plate parameters can be easily saved for future experiments, requiring less input from users.
Throughput
MetaXpress software features Adaptive Acquisition™, a powerful computational algorithm to analyze cell number on the fly during sample acquisition. Adaptive Acquisition helps increase the chances of collecting valid data in every well, and may significantly reduce acquisition time for multi wavelength acquisition requiring a minimum number of cells per well or for samples with differing conditions across the plate. High throughput (HT) modules are also available in MetaXpress to accelerate the image-based screening process. These modules are optimized for the automated analysis of large compound libraries. HT modules use proprietary algorithms capable of processing image data at the speed of acquisition.
Analysis
Analysis application modules are optionally available for
MetaXpress. The modules feature dedicated dialog boxes, improved segmentation through adaptation to local content,
and field and cell-by-cell data logging. Once the parameters are configured, the module can be run across entire
data sets.
Data can be displayed in several ways; well-by-well or cell-by-cell, in a Cellular Results table, or through graphs.
Assay settings can be configured, saved for future experiments and run
automatically
across entire data sets. The modules feature
Adaptive Background Correction™ which adapts the detection algorithm to the local intensity ranges and shape
features within and between cells to provide the most robust segmentation available.
Database functionality
The MDCStore database allows retrieval of all the data without users needing to manage a file system, making the
cellular drill down possible. Image data may be stored on a file system across the network or within the database.
Multiple analysis computers can access the database and analyze plate data in parallel.
Customization
MetaXpress is seamlessly integrated with the power and flexibility of MetaMorph® and its sophisticated
and powerful macros, called journals, that record and perform a series of tasks without the need for a programming
language. MetaXpress offers a variety of tools for image annotation, processing and presentation tools. Data can
be exported for further analysis.
Data mining
MetaXpress shares the MDCStore database with the AcuityXpress cellular informatics software, allowing for the
integration of data acquisition, image analysis and informatics. AcuityXpress is designed for enterprise-level
data mining of high content screening experiments and can be purchased separately.
