Ion Channels in Drug Discovery & Development 2008

9-10 October, 2008
The Nucleus, Saffron Walden
United Kingdom

Europe's Definitive Ion Channel Meeting

Building on the success of the European Drug Discovery meeting in 2008, Molecular Devices and BioFocus DPI are pleased to announce that we will be running a two day Ion Channels in Drug Discovery & Development meeting to be held at The Nucleus, Saffron Walden in the United Kingdom.

This meeting has been structured to reflect the significant role that ion channels play in a wide range cell types and the expanding therapeutic potential for this diverse and complex class of proteins. Recent technological developments have increased the tractability of ion channels as pharmaceutical industry targets and researchers now have access to effective discovery research tools that provide high quality screening data, flexible assay formats and enhanced throughput capacity.

Seminar profile raised at Ion Channels in Drug Discovery & Development, Europe 2008

The two day conference will consist of a series of informative seminars and training sessions related to ion channel drug discovery. This will include the impact of recent advances in technology, such as automated patch-clamp, which has revolutionized the use of electrophysiology as a tool for drug discovery and functional screening.

Speakers will discuss the application and future potential of these new technologies, present recent experimental results and discuss the impact of current technologies and anticipated future developments. The speakers and the conference organisers will be available after their sessions for Q & A and further discussion.

The meeting will be designed provide attendees with opportunities to share their experience of this emerging field and promote discussion of individual approaches to ion channel research. Attendees are encouraged to bring posters which can be displayed for the duration of the meeting.
