SkanWasher 400
96-Well Microplate Washer
The SkanWasher 400 is an all-inclusive, automatic 96-well microplate washer with built-in pressure and vacuum
pumps. No external pumps are required—just connect the tubing from the instrument to the reservoirs and
start washing. The individual pressure settings allow adjustments for a very gentle wash to a more vigorous "jet"
washing without "stripping" the plate.
The need to thoroughly wash the unbound antigen, antibody, binding protein, enzyme, or receptor from the solid
phase binding support is one of the most important steps in Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assays (ELISAs). With
excellent washing performance, the SkanWasher 400 is designed to meet this demand and those of other laboratory
assays performed in 96-well microplates where thorough washing is an essential step of the assay.
programming flexibility
The flexibility of the SkanWasher 400 allows for optimum assay results. The user-programmable sequences control
aspiration time, soak time, and wash by time and volume. User-defined names make identification of the eight programs
easy. The 4-line information display simplifies the programming of up to sixteen steps.
internal pumps
The SkanWasher 400 has internal pressure and vacuum pumps and is easy to connect and operate. The internal vacuum
pump eliminates the need for a bulky and costly external vacuum pump for a minimal footprint and maximum space
utilization. The SkanWasher 400 has the capability to set individual program pressure settings for most applications
and needs, from a very soft wash to a vigorous "jet" wash without destroying the coating in the microplate wells.
ELISAs can be accomplished with a virtually dry plate.
prime and rinse programs
Special programs for priming and rinsing make it easy to prepare the machine for washing, as well as to perform the
daily maintenance.
usability in mind
The SkanWasher 400 was designed to be user-friendly. Special programs for priming and rinsing make it easy to prepare
the instrument for washing and to perform daily maintenance. Within each program the aspiration and dispense probes
can be set separately to relate specifically to each assay. The conversion factor (σV) is used to fine-tune the
dispensed volume to adjust for the differing viscosities of various liquids.
The microplate holder is designed for both flat and round bottom microplates. A printed pattern on the plate holder
explains correct positioning for the plate type. Thorough aspiration from the surface of the liquid ensures no risk
of cross-contamination. The "intelligent" lift will position the plate accurately for each stage of the wash program,
creating gentle aspiration. This avoids destruction of the coating in the wells.
