MultiWash III Microplate Washer

A 96-well strip washer for ELISA, EIA, FIA, and cytotoxicity assays

  • Simple
  • Flexible
  • Dependable
  • Low Cost
  • Compact

The Molecular Devices MultiWash III is a low-cost, 96-well microplate strip washer that represents the perfect balance between features and affordable pricing. The MultiWash III can be used to perform a wide range of assays including ELISA (Enzyme-Linked ImmunoSorbent Assay), EIA (Enzyme Immuno Assay), FIA (Fluorescent Immuno Assays), LIA (Luminescent Immuno Assay), Cytotoxicity Assays and Agglutination tests in flat, round or V-bottom microplates. The system is completely self-contained, and can goes from out-of-the-box to full operation in just minutes, performing a 300 µL three-cycle wash on a 96-well plate in less than two minutes.

Features

The MultiWash III incorporates unique design features such as color-coded quick connect fittings (Figure 1), single-button cleaning, and easy programming. The soft-touch keys on the display pad (Figure 2) are used to create and store up to 50 user-defined programs, making the MultiWash III a reliable choice for ease of operation and dependability. The syringe dispense system provides complete control of fluid flow and aspiration, and the coaxial needle design (Figure 3) allows both bottom-washing and over-flow washing capabilities (Figure 4), providing maximum flexibility in washing both cell-based and biochemical assays.

Flexibility

The MultiWash III has a positive-displacement dispense pump that assures accurate and consistent dispensing. Coaxial manifolds are available in 8-port, 12-port, or dual 8-port configurations to dispense volumes from a range of 50-1990 µL in row, column, or double-column format. Aspiration from the microplate wells is by the use of a built-in vacuum pump, eliminating the need for additional equipment on the floor or lab bench.

Dependability

To ensure reliability, the instrument performs a maintenance rinse after every eight hours of non-usage to prevent wash solutions from drying up and leaving salt deposits between uses. The waste reservoir is fitted with a liquid level sensor to indicate if the reservoir is full. Only the tips of the aspiration needles make contact with liquid in the microplate wells, so crosscontamination and carry-over are minimized.
