Assays “Powered by SpectraMax

Molecular Devices has collaborated with various assay partners to optimize and validate assay performance on the SpectraMax platform. The SpectraMax platform consists of tunable single mode absorbance (VersaMax, 340PC384, 190, Plus384), fluorescence (Gemini XPS, EM), luminescence (SpectraMax L) and multimode readers (M2, M2e, M5, M5e and FlexStation 3).  Please click here to see the generic assay comparison table by reader.

Assay Partners:

Customized to meet each of our partners’ assay requirements, the criteria for optimizing and validating each assay area can be unique. Throughout the years, MDC application scientists have worked with partner scientists to establish optimum assay performance on our reader platform.

A selection from the criteria below is performed and may be available for each partner assay:

a) Control kit or standard curve data showing partner assay performance on SpectraMax readers
b) Software protocols to run partner assay (optimized reader settings and data analysis completed in SoftMax Pro)
c) Reference paper or application bulletin from MD, assay partner or customers

Why assays run on a SpectraMax provide superior results?

Molecular Devices’ tunable SprectraMax readers are the industry leader world wide.  The SpectraMax platform is powered by unique patented features listed below:

  • PathCheck™ enables absorbance microplate data independent of temperature effects as if  read on a dual beam spectrophotometer
  • Tunable high efficiency dual monochromator system and SmartOptics™ enable precise wavelength selection, maximum assay sensitivity and highest signal to background ratio for the widest range of fluorescence assays
  • Use of AutoPMT™ in fluorescence results generation, enables detection of low and high signal wells in the same plate.  RFUs do not depend of highest well
  • AutoRange™ enables integrated analog and digital photon counting accommodating low signal as well as the widest dynamic range possible for luminescence assays
  • Narrow bandwidth increases assay precision and produces best in class results in absorbance
  • Automatic polarizer selection in FP assays.  No filters or dichroics to keep track of, maintain and manage.  The only fully tunable FP reader in the market
